Is store-bought anchovy paste good for cats? It's almost my kitty's birthday! Her b-day is on Christmas and I want to make her a special cake. I want to top wet cat food with anchovy paste, but I'm wondering if store-bought anchovy paste is good for cats. Do you know if it is or not?
Recipes with anchovy paste? I bought a tube of anchovy paste and don't know what to do with it. Anybody have a good recipe that includes anchovy paste as an ingredient? Thanks
Where can I find a tube of anchovy paste in Sydney? I'm looking for the type sold in the US, not the type I've seen here called "Anchovette," which has salmon and other things in it. I'm looking for the type that one would use in a Caesar salad. Preferably in CBD, Oxford/Paddington, Surry Hills, or Newtown areas. I can't find it anywhere and haven't found any specialty/gourmet food stores. Many thanks!
Anyone have experience cooking with anchovy? I have a pasta recipe that calls for a anchovy and butter sauce. I'm supposed to saute the anchovies in butter until the melt away, but at the store I found two kinds. The choice were anchovy fillets or rolled anchovies with caper. Which should I use? What is the difference between rolled and flat. I honestly wanted anchovy paste, but can't find it. Tell me what you know about cooking with anchovies!
How can i thicken a Caesar dressing? I have a recipe for a Caesar dressing that tastes absolutely great..it has the anchovy paste, the yolks and all. its just too runny, like a vinegarette and doesnt stick well to the romaine..is there a way to thicken it up and make it more creamy like the restaurants do? thanx

I'm fourteen and my dad said that it isn't actually the meat, but he is against my vegetarianism so i cant fully trust his word in this case ;)
Does anyone know a recipe for Mellow Mushroom Esperanza Dressing? Mellow Mushroom franchise has a salad dressing that they call Esperanza and I love it and would like to make it myself. It lists the ingredients on the container: Soybean oil, water, vinegar, anchovy paste, salt, egg yolk, yellow mustard, msg, garlic, spices, olive oil, minced onion, parsley, oregano, etc.... I've tried to do it myself and the taste is just not there. I would love any help...Thanks

Does anyone know how to make Spanish style anchovy stuffed olives? What are the ingredients in the stuffing? I know it is not anchovy but some kind of fish paste maybe tuna? Spices? Thanks for all the good answers (except the first smartass). But I am still looking for a recipe which tastes like the anchovy olives in Spain. Even the brine has a good taste, I actually use the the brine after the olives have been eaten to give extra taste to cheaper olives. Don't you have Spanish anchovy olives in US? They are divine, I live now in Australia, we can get imported ones but they are still a shadow of the ones you get in Spain.
What is the mark of a good tapenada? After watching Alton Brown make tapenada on the Food Network, I convinced my wife to make some. We used a recipe similar to: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_33437,00.html I don't remember where we got our current recipe, but it's pretty similar. But, as someone who's never had tapenada, I don't know if this batch is good. I enjoy it, which is important. Some notes about this batch: It's a deep purple that is almost black. We like kalamata olives, so that is the majority of the olives. It is very much a coarse paste. It can be spread on bread or crackers. It is very salty. That's expected for olives, anchovy, and capers, but this is really salty. You want a drink after having a cracker with this tapenada. What are some qualities of a good tapenada?
what ever happened to barney? there once was a man called jeromy fortaste he wasn't very good at disposing permissive waste he knew that iron could be displaced he eventually drowned in a puddle of piss up to his waste or was that anchovy paste well anyway can u tell im piss faced wow kids beer and insomnia makes for good bedtime rhymes!!!meow!!!
Good olive tapenade recipe? This is what I have at home; thyme, fresh and dry, anchovy paste, kalamata olives, Ginger, and if the capers could be optional... Because my mother is allergic.
tequila mixers? I'm out of lime juice? Here's what we have: ranch dressing, lemon juice, whipped cream, soy sauce, worsteshire, sriracha, a handful of key limes, pickled ginger, ketchup, milk, peach jelly, maple syrup, tomato sauce, anchovy paste and salsa! What drink should we make? We also may have a can of soup. I think it's tomato.
to vegetarians: Anybody watch 30 min meals with Rachael Ray? This kinda bugged me. I don't normally watch the show but my mom does, so i watched it with her one day. Well Rachael Ray was making a caesar salad with portabella mushrooms on top. She of course used anchovy paste and then used Worcestershire sauce in the dressing. Both obviously have anchovies in them. She then went on to say more than once and right the end that it would be a great meal for vegetarians. Really?!?! Am I the only one that this bothers?? Please let me know if you agree. I'm aware that she has done some vegetarian meals. But those who say that she just overlooked that detail is so wrong. She a professional chef she does it for a living she should know whats in the food she's making. So please don't leave any comments/answers that say she overlooked it. what i added was kind of mean but it really bothers me that shes a professional and said that.
Seafood and Pasta. Does this sound good to you? I love seafood/shell fish and pasta and I was thinking of trying a new idea instead of my old stand bys. I have a bag of Barilla cheese and spinach Tortallini, a can of smoked baby clams, shrimp and scallops that I would like to use. I also have sundried tomato, roasted red pepper, green olives, capers and anchovy paste (some of my Italian staples). Always on hand are cans of diced tomato, garlic, oregano and basil. I guess the issue here is the "smoked" clams as I usually don't buy them-just the regular canned minced clams. I also have salmon filets in my freezer for a full Fruiti di' Mare. What's your take on all this, please. I'm trying to use my storage pantry stuff before I have to go shopping again. So, if you've ever used Smoked Baby Clams, tell me what you made and how it tasted. PS- "I wonder", I'm watching you. No reciepes, please.
Spinach dip and ceaser dressing recipes?!?!? I'd like to find a really tasty spinach dip recipe. It cannot contain peppers though, as I am allergic to them. And because I like the dip so much I sneak some cause I do like peppers. I just have to take medicine to counteract the reaction. And also I would like to find a ceaser dressing recipe. My Auntie used to make one with anchovy paste, but not eggs and I can't find a recipe anywhere that meets both of those specs. Also share your favourite dressings or dips. Thanks to everyone who answers Also I was at a house party and a lady made some potato type dish that she called glace. if anyone knows of it please also that would be a great recipe to have.
Should I Give It To My Husband? My husband is always depressed, so me being the kind and compassionate person that I am, I decided to write him a poem to make him feel better. I just want to reassure him that no matter how ugly he is, he still has something going for him- me! My Dear dear husband Your face looks like puppy chow Your very best feature Is your uni brow Your butt is covered in pimples Seeing it makes me gag Unless you get a body transplant You and I will never shag You have a tiny penis Like a mini vanilla tootsie roll But look at the bright side Your penis is instant birth control Your boobs are double Ds They sag down to your waist You lifted one once and I got a sniff It smelled like anchovy paste Yours testicles are freakishly big They are actually rather impressive I got to know your dad quite well The huge ball gene must not be recessive All in all you are very unattractive Even your mom said it is true So I must have sex with other men But I will always come home to you I am 25 and my husband is 30. We have been unhappily married for 5 years. So should I give it to him, to reassure him that I will always be here despite his grotesque face and body?
How do your cooking and eating habits as an independent adult differ from those of your childhood family? What foods and ingredients do you cook and eat regularly or always have on hand now, but were never served in your family when you were a kid? Also, what foods and ingredients have you eliminated from your diet, which instead your mother used to prepare and make you eat? I mean out of choice, NOT due to non-availability or for health reasons (for instance, pesto didn’t exist in the U.S. when I was growing up in the 50s-60s, and a lot of American products aren’t available over here). When I was growing up, my Mom never used, cooked, or served garlic, olive oil, cream cheese, yogurt, honey, lentils, artichokes, eggplant (aubergine), chickpeas (garbanzo beans), anchovy paste, coarse salt, rosemary, basil, sage, curry spices, or hot red pepper (peperoncino). My kitchen, on the other hand, is never without them. Things I have never cooked (and probably never will) include turnips, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage (except for raw, in slaws and salads), sweet potatoes, cooked carrots, and a number of meats – all things my Mom cooked fairly often. Only in the past few years have I found a couple of recipes that enable me to eat broccoli, something else that used to be on my “hate” list. What about you?

Cesar dressing vegetarian? I know that some ceaser dressings contain anchovie paste or flavoring. Would this still be considered a vegetarian food? I'm not sure if anchovie paste is made with real anchovies or not. Also if it isn't vegetarian can you give me a vegetarian recipe. Thanks in advance.
This question is for Italian cooks only.? I'm not Italian but having lived with an Italian family for a few years, I became very fond of Italian cooking, especially the sauce that goes with pasta. Here is the way I make it. Please tell me if my recipe would meet with your satisfaction. Brown 2 pork chops in olive oil, 2 cloves garlic, add 2 cans crushed tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 or 2 cans tomato paste, 2 bay leaves, 1 tsp sugar, maybe a pinch oregano. Cook slowly for a couple of hours. Sometimes I make bracioli (cubed steak rolled up with thin slices garlic and tied with thread) and brown this with chops. Mmmm. What would a few anchovies do?
A quick question about soft cheeses and pregnancy!? Now i know that pregnant women arent supposed to eat soft cheeses such as camerbert, stilton and such. I always thought it was due to the moulds used in the curing process, but i just want to check that there isnt another reason. Heating the cheese to the right temp should kill off the active moulds right. All i want to eat is cheese so i thought a multi cheese pizza might be good (mmmm, tomato paste on the base, fresh basil and oregano, feta cheese, mozzarella, parmesan, cubes of camerbert, some crumbled blue vein and anchovies, yum, yum). Back to the question, is there any other reason why pregnant women shouldnt eat soft cheese and would heating it make it safe? Somebody please answer as this pizza is ready to go and the oven is preheated. Damn it, it looks like my husband will be getting a snack.
English Sentence Structure help? I need help with this paragraph: Finding Ibu was no easy task as I lumbered across the room. She was busy preparing an early Malaysian lunch for us consisting of: rendang, lemang(“…they are glutinous rice with lemon, Alice.”), ketupat (“Malay rice dumpling, dear.”), dodol (“Haven’t you tasted it before? It’s a sticky and sweet rice flour snack), rojak (“Alice, you ask too many questions. Rojak is a Malaysian fruit salad that uses a spicy sauce. I’ve added peanuts and shrimp paste.”), and nasi lemak which was rice served with fishcake, anchovies, egg, and spicy sambal sauce. Is it possible that I can include a direct speech/quote into a bracket as Ibu describes the Malay food to Alice?
Looking for an easy, flavorful tomato sauce recipe? I have never made my own tomato sauce and there are so many recipes online I don't know where to start. Carrabbas Caesar salad dressing recipe??? Does any one know how they make the caesar salad dressing at Carrabbas Italian Grill? Tried this recipe and it tasted awful: http://recipes.chef2chef.net/recipe-archive/30/165661.shtml Came out tasting so badly of garlic and anchovies it was unedible and stunk up the entire house. (came out closer to regular italian dressing than Creamy Caesar) I think I may have done somthing wrong, but If you have ever tried to make it, you will realize it is only mainly made of Olive oil, Garlic, Anchovies, and Parmesan. How would that make it creamy like Carrabbas? Maybe what I should be asking is what went wrong? Does it HAVE to be done with a wooden spoon? What would make it turn out nothing like a paste?

What do you think of the novel I am writing? Hi, so I am writing a spiritually themed novel about kids at a summer camp. If you give me feedback, and especially editing help, I will put you in the acknowledgments. Thanks so much! God bless. Note that the format is wonky because it is pasted from Word. CHAPTER 5 AJ's Challenge The next day after lunch, the camp co-director, Ruth, Greg’s wife, announced that we were having the first Challenge Games of the summer. This was when a camper or cabin could publicly challenge another camper or cabin to any sport, game, or activity. After one junior finished accepting a softball challenge for his cabin by listing the supplies that the opposing team should bring in preparation of getting "schooled," such as calculators, pencils, notebooks, etc., I watched AJ approach the head of the assembly. AJ accepted the microphone from Ruth. "I, the handsome, smart, and athletic AJ Turner challenge the revolting, dim-witted, weakling Jonathan Dreyfus to sand wrestling, best of three rounds over fourth period.” The assembly oohed and aahed their approval mixed with laughter. A chill ran through my blood. I glanced at Isaac who raised his eyebrows expectantly. Everyone was watching and waiting for my reply. My counselor Alex was sitting beside me, and he whispered in my ear that I didn't have to accept the challenge; I could tell AJ that I had already made plans to play basketball with my cabin. For a moment I thought about using that excuse, but ultimately I rejected it because deep down, I wanted to destroy AJ: for how he treated me, for being an acting captain when I wasn't, because everyone thought that he was going to be the new Green captain after Ethan left. Tommy leaned over and whispered in my ear an insult to use against AJ - it wasn’t bad. I slowly stood and approached the head of the assembly, took the microphone, and into it I mumbled, "I accept, but are you sure you wouldn’t rather play horse, AJ? I can play the front end, and you can play yourself!" The assembly laughed. Tommy nodded his approval. AJ raised an eyebrow while he waited for the laughter to die down. He spoke. “You should throw out more ‘disses’ like that, Jonathan, ’cause that’s where they belong: in the trash.” He began to sniff the air with a disgusted expression on his face, like he had just caught a whiff of something awful. When he finally sniffed in my direction he plugged his nose as if he had discovered the source of the stench. “Jonathan, we already know that you have a pizza face,” he told me, “but tell Dominoes that when you get served this afternoon, hold the anchovies.” Riotous laughter and standing ovation followed. During fourth period, AJ and I stretched and warmed up by the sand volleyball court. Both our cabin-mates were circled around us to watch. My counselor Alex was there to make sure that we played safe. When we were ready, we took off our shoes and stepped into the sand. I glanced at my opponent and fought back a gulp; in his form-fitting tank top I could see that he had about fifteen pounds on me. "Wrestlers, are you ready?" Keith asked; he was the kid who AJ and I had chosen to ref the match. "Ready," AJ growled. "Ready.” "Then FIGHT!" Keith bellowed like the announcer from some bloodbath video game. My counselor Alex sighed and shook his head. Moments later AJ and I were grappling with each other. My heart was racing; adrenaline had kicked in. Soon I was able to force AJ off balance and into the sand. Then, lying across his chest, I hooked one of his kicking legs with my arm. He struggled to break free but to no avail; I had him pinned. Keith dropped to the ground beside us and pounded the sand. "One! Two! Three!" My cabin-mates cheered. With a rush of pride I realized I had won the first round. I released my grip on AJ. "I felt bad for missing your birthday party," AJ hissed at me as he stood and wiped the sand off his shirt. "Unfortunately, I only give one gift a year." "Unfortunately, I'm gifted year round," I shot back. My cabin-mates laughed. “That a boy, Jonathan!” Isaac called out. Soon we were ready for round two. "Wrestle!" Keith announced. I got low as AJ closed in. When AJ was within reach he began swatting at my feet. I batted AJ's hand away but he grabbed my wrist, and yanked me toward him. Then he grabbed me around the waist and forced me to the ground. I squirmed my way out of his hold, turned over, and tried to get back on my feet, but a moment later, AJ was on top of me from behind. He forced my arms behind my back and pushed me face first into the sand. I put my head to the side so that I could breathe, and I struggled to break free. AJ straddled my back and tightened his hold. I was unable to move. "One! Two! Three!" Keith announced. The round was over. AJ’s cabin-mates cheered. “Yeah!” “One more, bro!” I stood up and wiped the sand from off my clothes and face. Tommy approached me and put a hand on my shoulder. "Dude, be
